M.Video, Eldorado launch self-collection chain for online orders

MOSCOW, Jul 27 (PRIME) -- Russia’s large electronics retailers M.Video and Eldorado, both parts of Safmar of businessman Mikhail Gutseriyev, have launched a pilot project to hand over online orders via pick-up points, the companies said on Friday in a statement.

“Our buyers prefer collecting some 70% of online orders themselves in stores of M.Video and Eldorado. It’s more than 2 million orders a year,” said Irina Dementyeva, head of delivery management at the M.Video-Eldorado group.

The group’s online sales spiked 39.6% on the year to 32.306 billion rubles in January–June, while total sales rose 16% to 175.304 billion rubles, including value-added tax.

The M.Video-Eldorado group is piloting distribution of online orders via self-collection points located outside own stores. “Now online orders can be received not only with a courier or in a retail store, but be also picked up in partnership points or postamats,” the companies said.

M.Video started the pilot project jointly with logistics service PickPoint in Moscow, the Moscow Region, and in St. Petersburg.

“The self-collection chain counts 33 points in 17 cities. The company will expand the chain by the end of the year. The similar pilot is launched by Eldorado in Moscow inside the Garden Ring,” the companies said.

Self-collection points and postamats deliver almost any goods from M.Video’s assortment of the size not bigger than a microwave oven up to 15 kilograms and with the price under 50,000 rubles. Postamats do not have price limits.
